Advantages: Fantastic songs, Quality, Cover, Mixes

Disadvantages: Have many of the songs already, Already out of date

What Is It?
The Ministry of Sound official 'Anthems 1991- 2008' is a CD set which is a mixture of the best dance songs, mixed by the Ministry of Sound, over the last 17 years. This is a 3 CD box set which contains 63 famous dance anthems of the last 2 decades. This was released in the summer of 2008, in which an updated CD has now been released.

Why Buy It?
I bought this as I have always been a huge fan of the Ministry of Sound. I am not old enough to have heard the stuff before around 2000 as I only got into dance music in the last 5 years and am only 15 so it adds up. Anyway I had heard a lot of the material on this CD on the radio and really enjoyed it, but I wanted now to be able to listen to it in the space of my own home on my i-pod of CD player.
Also the adverts on TV as well, they really intrigued me and after listening to the snippets of songs. It made me want to listen to dance music and the advert had really good graphics as well.

The Cover
The cover is a fantastic graphic of the famous Ministry of Sound logo. It is very stylish and modern and I really like it, along side the disco strobe background. On the back it has the full tracklist of each CD. The list of songs on the back are all in order of the date of when they were realesed which is a good idea so you can listen to example CD 3 if your wanting the more up-to-date songs played. Or CD 1 for the older 'classic' dance songs. When you take the CD's out of the cover slip you have pictures of part of the logo (corners etc) and unfolding it leaves you with the 3 CD's, nicely presented. Very funky!

Favorite Song?
Well, it's a tough one as I really like a lot of music on the CD's. However I have chosen Kernkraft 400 - Zombie Nation as I cannot listen to it enough. I love it and usually have it blaring on my i-pod at max volume!
And Least Favorite Song?
There is one song that irritates me and that is the Eric Pryz- Call On Me song which really irritates me. I think I have heard it to many times and I don't actually think it should be on the CD as it isn't really a classic Ministry of Sound song but other people might think otherwise.

Music Quality
Very, very good. Even though some of the music is around 10 years old it still is very good quality. The newer songs do have a little bit more of an edge to it, however the older songs are still very high quality. When you turn the songs up I have noticed that unlike some CD's, it doesn't crackle at the strain of high volume. But if you really want to take full advantage of the quality then turn up the bass (if you can) on your player, what amazing results.

Price/Where to Get It
I bought my CD at Woolworths (RIP) for £15.99. I thought this was a really good price and I had bought it about the week after it was released. Now when I had a look around the shops I have seen HMV sell it for £9.99 which is a really good price. Checking out other shops, Woolworths were also now selling them for £9.99 and online there was the same trend. The RRP is £15.99 so the shops are being very nice at the moment. Now as this is an older CD it will now be much cheaper which is great, so you can now get them of Ebay and Amazon for around £5.

What's Right With It?
If your a fan of dance music, or knows someone who is then this really is for you. I wasn't alive when some of this music was released but I really love a lot of the older music. I had heard some of it before on the radio sometimes but now I've taken the time to appreciate it. It has some really good music which is brilliant and has a bit of dance music for everyone. The cover is really stylish and 'cool' and since there are 3 CD's you can listen to different eras of dance. I put them all on my iPod however so I didn't have to take them all over the place so thats another advantage.
The music is really high quality and really good for discos or parties as you can put it really loud, and it won't crackle or skip parts of songs. I personally hadn't heard a lot of the music before so it was great to discover new dance music. I love the Ministry of Sound and this is a really good compilation of the best songs, it has to offer, that will have all the oldies on the dance floor.

What's Wrong With It?
There is a big problem with this CD. This will affect a lot of people. I already have a lot of the songs on this CD on other CDs! I actually have 3 different versions of some songs on this CD already so this is just another on to add. I already had about a quarter of the songs already on CD so had to delete the duplicates of my i-pod playlist which was annoying. So if you are someone with a lot of Ministry of Sound music already then you will find it a bit stupid to buy as you will probibly have most of it already. So I found that a huge disadvantage so making this CD really best for people who do not have any Ministry of Sound CD's at all.

Conclusion
I have always loved dance music and possibly always will. The music is great and very high quality however, having a lot of the music on this CD already is annoying. However don't let that stop you buying it as there is so absolutely brilliant music on it and it is a really good CD to buy, for a really good price.
