Advantages: Caters for all musical tasters, Good album sleve art work, Very listenable
Disadvantages: Yet to find any
Dryden Mitchell looks as though he's had a close encounter of the hedge-trimmer kind in this debut for the US 'rock' bands album sleve shoot.
I - as most did - bought the album after hearing just 1 song of theirs - the cover of Wacko Jacko's SMOOTH CRIMINAL. This track in itself was catchy enough to get even the frailest of ex-rocksters up off their seats and get on down with that funky beat, Its heavy guitar riffs, and quirky video, and indeed catchy enough to get the album - ANTology straight to the top spot.
The second of the bands releases was an original - penned by Dryden himself, and let us see what the US bred 4-piece were really made of. Again, quirky video, and catchy song - this time, not a hint of song-stealing from anyone of the musical-past. Its a song about a relationship ending, making a similie to a MOVIE. (Who'd have thought it).
The next release off this album - ATTITUDE was far darker than its musical ancestors. Not quite as catchy as MOVIES and SMOOTH CRIMINAL but one of those songs you get into your head and then the chorus is stuck there for the rest of the day. "Your attitude is welcome, welcome....."
The album has got stuff for the ones who just wanna rock-out - Noted tracks include Courage, Wish and Smooth Criminal, but on the other side of the coin, theres also tracks which a 2.4 children, typical middle-aged suburban mum wouldn't be offended to hear, such as Summer, Stranded, and Movies.
The entire album is one which makes a regular appearance on my car stereo, and is a must for the conoisseur of fine drive-time tunes. It is by far better than the follow up - TrueANT.
The album has had its time in the lime-light, and can now be found amongst Bargain-Bins nationwide, but i salute the intrepid souls who ventured forth to bring us a musical master piece - Dryden Mitchell, Terence Corso, Tye Zamora and Mike Cosgrove.
