... journalist and I have just tried to write what I feel about each one. 1. Collapse (Post Amerika). 3:19. This number has an explosive drum opening which, in my opinion, is very reminiscent of Less Than Jake in their prime, and then settles into a very good opening song. A short guitar solo at around the 2:40 mark reminds listeners that Rise Against can play their instruments as well as most other bands out there. 2. Long Forgotten Son. 4:00 This is very 'charty' and is one of the songs which is more mainstream th...more

Premium Review Appeal To Reason - Rise Against: Appeal To Reason or appeal to the masses? (701 words)

In 2008 Rise Against returned with their first album in 2 years, Appeal To Reason. Although this might seem like a weird time to finally review the album, I have chosen to do it now as I am seeing them live on Friday and I've been listening to the album again as I am sure that the majority of the gig will come from this one. In my reviews I sometimes struggle to find the words to write down what I want to say and I think this is definitely going to be one of those occasions as although I like this album, I also find it disappointing. As a big fan of Rise Against's previous albums I find this one a bit too 'nice' - I like RA when they are at their loudest, ...  Read the complete review

Another great album from rise against. The album itself is great but i feel it doesn't beat the The Sufferer in the Witness as a whole but features some great new songs such as auidcence of one, re-education, savior and collapse in my own opinion. With this band i feel that there's a very powerful message behind every song they make, which shows how much effort and time the put into this album, They don't have the catchiest of songs but are a cut above every other band, the songs. The album certainly is top album if your looking to get pumped for the gym or anything else. I would recommend this to anyone has the band deserves every penny for their hard-work on their ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Appeal To Reason - Rise Against: Not quite what I expected (1514 words)

Two years after their last album The Sufferer & The Witness, Rise Against return with their new album Appeal to Reason. I've been eagerly anticipating this album since it was announced in May 2007 that Rise Against planned to head back to the studio. I expected a great album full of heavy, fast songs that Rise Against are known for. Did the album meet those expectations? Kind of. Let me explain. I heard the lead single Re-Education (Through Labor) some time before the album came out, and I began to have my doubts about the album, as it was a lot slower than the songs from The Sufferer & The Witness. The songs later began to grow on me, but that's not ...  Read the complete review
