Advantages: Best overall rock album of all time
Disadvantages: None, how could there be?
For my 11th birthday on October 12th 1988 my grandparents gave me a cassete tape of a band I had never heard of and that band was called 'Gun's 'N' Roses. The name of the tape was called 'Appetite For Destruction' and I couldn't believe that my grandma was cool enough to get me something like that.
As I said before I had never heard of them so I had no idea what to expect. After I listened to the whole tape just one time I realized that this was going to be a classic band remembered for centuries to come (or at least decades). Listening to the album I could tell they had a diverse array of sounds and styles; especially for the times but with their own unique qualities. It wouldn't be Gun's 'N' Rose's without Slashes signature guitar style or Axl's Voice. From a rough rock song to a soft ballad they could play them both with style. This album is just cool.
I couldn't tell which song is my favorite because they are all my favorites in their own ways. I love 'Sweet Child O' Mine', 'My Michelle', 'Rocket Queen', 'Nighttrain', 'Paradice City' and the list can go on and on... Every song is laced with Slash's beautiful guitar solos and Izzy's cool rifs.
Out of all the music I've had in my life; thousands of records, 8 tracks, tapes and cd's, Appetite is at the top of my list for albums I don't want to live without (other than any Tool of course).
Just give a listen and you might enjoy...
