Advantages: Every song is great

Disadvantages: None

Appetite for Destruction is without a doubt one of my favourite albums ever - I think it's not only the best thing that the band has ever done, but quite possibly the best thing to be made by a mainstream rock band.

What I love about them most is their fusion of blues into their rock music, helped largely by Axl Rose's tender vocals, and whilst I don't like the guy that much, he at least is a very talented man. Moreover, Slash's astounding guitar work really does make the band what they are, as well as apt support from the likes of Duff McKeegan.

Literally EVERY song is a certifiable classic in my opinion. Opening with Welcome to the Jungle, which has since been used in so many films and adverts, Rose sets an atmosphere that lets you know you're in for an utterly wild ride. It's So Easy is the second track, and apparently one of Duff's favourite GNR tracks that not many people know - I must agree that it's one of the best on there, but sadly not too many are even aware of it.

Paradise City is another classic tune about a man fantasising about reading a paradise city where "the grass is green and the girls are pretty". It has very unique and recognisable guitar work.

My Michelle is a song that I wish was also recognised more - it's got some hilariously dark lyrics, and more to the point, is insanely catchy, and has been covered quite a few times, most notably perhaps by AFI.

Sweet Child O' Mine is perhaps the band's signature song - it is an absolute classic of rock, and is not only heavy and rocking, with cracking guitar work from Slash, but it's very heartfelt and has a deep emotional core.

There are a few tracks that aren't as well known as the rest, such as Anything Goes and Rocket Queen, for instance, but they're all great rocking tracks that will be guaranteed to get a room jumping. I love this album to bits and admire it as the finest work of the band's rocky and illustrious career.

Summary: A seminal rock album
