Over the years, Lee Perry has produced some of the best music to come out of Jamaica. In the ska and rocksteady years he worked for others, gradually honing his production skills. It was in the roots era, however, that he came into his own, when he built his own studio, The Black Ark (hence the title of the comp). Arkology is a collection of some of the best of the music to come out of the Black Ark. It opens with the classic "Dub Revolution Part 1" - "This is dub revolution, music to rock the nation" which is a pretty good statement of intent for Perry's music.
