Discovering The Waterfront - Silverstein

Premium Review Discover "Discovering The Waterfront" (295 words)
by Crazyfist - written on 09/04/09 (Very useful, 25 readings)
Rating:

album to be released with Victory Records and by far excedes their earlier album. The Album consists of a post-hardcore sound including screaming aggressive vocals and melodic clean vocals although Silverstein tend to break off from the "sing the chorus scream the rest" alot of other hardcore bands do. The band introduce a lot of melodic guitar ryths and tend to add something unique to each song. The Album has 11 songs; 1. "Your Sword Versus My Dagger" 2. "Smile in Your Sleep" 3. "The Ides of March" 4. "Fist Wrapped in Blood" 5. "Discovering the Waterfront" 6. "Defend You" 7."My ...

When Broken Is Easily Fixed - Silverstein

Premium Review Silverstein - When Broken Is Easily Fixed (252 words)
by Crazyfist - written on 16/04/09 (Useful, 36 readings)
Rating:

Silverstein are a well known name when the Post-Hardcore scene is concerned and this is the album that made them. Canadian 5 piece band, Silverstein created the album When Broken Is Easily Fixed in 2003 when the Post-Hardcore sound thrived. Silverstein showed the classics traits of other bands in the genre with the way the album is structered. Being this their first album and them still being young, there is a distinct difference in the lead vocalists (Shane Told) vocal styles when compared to their later albums, his vocals seeming more raw and emotional. Also the guitar and drumming seems to have a more lighter and less aggressive sound, due to this the album is also ...

Chapters From A - Falconer
Folk elements increased. Short and seemingly incomplete songs.

Falconer - Falconer
Distinctive sound. Lacks variety.

Monday Morning Apocalypse - Evergrey
More accessible to newcomers. Lacks the band's characteristic qualities.

In Search Of Truth - Evergrey
Creative and compelling prog-power metal. One too many dull ballads.

Monumension - Enslaved
Great progressive metal for those with more extreme tastes. Too much reliance on these new elements, which aren't as developed as the old.

Mardraum - Beyond The Within - Enslaved
Original and distinctive progressive black metal. Mechanical production sound is grating.

Isa - Enslaved
Holds your interest, is very cool may be slightly repetitive for some.

Blodhemn - Enslaved
Better production, more great black metal songs. Less creative.

Frost - Enslaved
Hugely atmospheric, varied, very intense A little cheesy/disjointed in places

Fwx - Fates Warning
Mature, atmospheric, heavy and moving. Perhaps not dynamic enough for some prog metal fans.
