Suicidal: Friends And Family - Suicidal Tendencies
Friends and Family 2 (141 words)by - written on 04/08/01
Rating:
unreleased tracks by Suicidal Tendencies , as well as Muir's funk laden side project Infectious Grooves. You even get some punky, funky madness by various studio projects involving members of the ST crew and what the band call their 'extended family'. Even though ST are the main protagonists there's a few nifty ...

After BLACK FLAG's "My War", my second taste of hardcore punk while growing up was the all-time greatest skate-punk record of all time: the first, self-titled Suicidal Tendencies album. This was circa 1984. Back in those highschool days, if you didn't know all the words to "Institutionalized", and have "Suicidal" written on the bottom of your Chuck Taylors, you just weren't cool. In fact, you may have even been dubbed the most dreaded of all creatures: a "poseur". The first SUICIDAL record was released in 1983 on FRONTIER RECORDS by the Venice Beach quintet. It was one of the first albums to build a rudimentary ...

Lock Up The Wolves - Dio
Valiant effort.
Sub-par incarnation of the band can't achieve too much.
Lucidity - Delain
Strong guitars, soaring keyboards and excellent vocals
Growly vocals feel a little out of place at time
Magica - Dio
Dio gets his mojo back, and celebrates in bombastic concept album style.
Riffs are still repetitive and plodding.
Kal - Kal
A sublime fusion of roots and more modern music
Not as good as some contemporaries
Killing The Dragon - Dio
Returns to tried-and-tested ground.
Fails to live up to the old standard.
Kobzar - Haydamaky
Some superb music
The flute on one or two tracks does my head in
Last In Line - Dio
More classic metal, with Dio's best song in the title track.
Essentially nine more tracks of the same.
Leave Scars - Dark Angel
A heavier take on eighties thrash.
Less memorable than its predecessor.
Lady Of The Lore - Desdemona
Fun power metal.
Heard it all before.
