De la soul are a group who have been around for years. They have only really been famous in America. I must admit I hadn’t really heard of them until I saw them in the MOBO’s. the song which the sung was “oooh oooh” it is a really great tune with a catchy beat, it features Redman who is from Compton and a really good rapper in his own rights. I decided to buy their album, “artificial intelligience,” the album has a great cover representing the three members of the group with kind of like motion footage. Having listened to the album fully through I believe if it was advertised more then the group would become more famous in ... Read the complete review

Mosaic Thump, The first installment of De La's swansong trilogy, Art Official Intelligence, is clearly an album with a message to the world of hip-hop. Guest appearances from the likes of Xzibit and Redman on 'Oooh,' boost its profile and lend some welcome diversity to the De La sound. As a whole, it is a smooth, well presented piece of music with tracks melting effortlessly into one another with the distinctive De La Soul vibe. There are a number of excellent standout tracks including Oooh, Set The Mood (ft.Indeed) and U Don't Wanna B.D.S. featuring Freddie Fox's wild vocals. The album deals with issues dear to De La Soul, as is indicated by the ... Read the complete review

Long term success in the rap game is one of the most difficult things to achieve in all of music. There have only been two hip hop artists who enjoyed great success in the 1980s, as well as in the late 1990s: Too $hort and Slick Rick, who have been dropping certified gold and platinum records since the mid-80s (Too $hort since "Born To Mack", Slick Rick since "The Show/La-Di-Da-Di" 12" single), and both came up with gold albums in 1999. While greats such as Big Daddy Kane and Rakim have attempted to make comebacks, their receptions were lukewarm at best (even though Kane has had some real hot guest spots), losing a measure of their old fans by ... RE: ART OFFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - This album is really mellow with some really great tracks. If you really like heavy rap like some dre or ice cube then maybe you need to steer clear as it may not be what your expecting but if like mos def for example the i think you would really like this album. I think this album hasn't been advertised enough but de la soul really should be rated. The thing I don't really like about this album is the fact ther is some strange talking in between the tracks and it seems to put you off. I think that this album is a good statement for rapping as it doesn't have much swearin (the odd word each song) and i think people rate rap as ... Read the complete review

"Art Official Intelligence" the recent release by DE La Soul, represents a slight departure from their previous works. Gone are the Daisy Age musings on tracks like 'Eye Know', 'Say no Go' and 'Me myself and I'. In their place comes hard hitting rhymes on floor filling tracks such as 'OOO', 'Thru Ya city' and 'All Good'. De La also bring in heavyweight contributors from the world of hip hop and soul: Redman, Busta Rhymes and Chaka Khan in an obvious attempt to reignite their popularity. To put it simply, this album works. It is catchy, but also credible, and most importantly varied. ... Read the complete review
