Advantages: A funky, alternative and individual album

Disadvantages: Can get a bit repetitive if you listen to it too many times as can anything

Arular is MIAs 2005 album, that has hits on such as Galang and Sunshowers.

The whole album is very unique, creative and alternative. Each track makes you feel good and the eclectic style the wole album has to offer is honestly different to anything I have heard before. The 13 song album also has skits included, such as the one for the head skit and dash the curry skit, which are very short but good pieces of artwork in my opinion from the everchanging artist that is M.I.A.

The album cover and jacket/sleeve is in itself a piece of artowkr and I feel this also helps differentiate both the CD an artist from competitors or even copycats. Back to the actual cd now, and I have to say it is definately well worth a listen, nobody what music you are into, this abum will have you dancing or singing along. And to be honest after you have listened to it once you will probably find yourself listening again to some of the more catchy tracks on the album such as 10 Dollar and U.R.A.Q.T.

The whole album has a raw sound and vibe to it that you cant find with a lot of the heavily manufactured stuff that is on the airwaves these days. All in all this is a fab debut album that really helped launch M.I.A.

Summary: A cool artistic debut album from M.I.A that is well worth a listen
