Advantages: Impressive lyrically and vocally throughout
Disadvantages: Musically there were less catchy and soulful beats then previous albums
Do people really need to ask if an Alicia Keys album is worth buying? I suppose people may wonder can she truly keep on delivering us such beautiful heart-felt music and the answer is yes!
For me the standout track on the album is "No One". It feels like Alicia is really straining to hit those notes and thats what makes it so listenable. You truly feel that she is screaming out to send out her message that "no one can take away what I feel". The lyrics are beautiful and the music has a catchy beat.
The latest single "Superwoman" isn't my favourite but the piano sounds great and the lyrics talk about being a strong woman, one of the reasons Alicia Keys is such a role-model to women, its quite reminiscent of her last female anthem, "A Woman's Worth"
The second single from the album "Like You'll Never See Me Again" has a gracefull melody and Alicia soft voice makes you feel like you are listening to a lullaby.
One of my favourite tracks has to be the third single "Teenage Love Affair". Listening to it really did conjure up the feelings of what it was to have a crush on someone at school and the music has an old Motown vibe to it that really sticks in your end.
Another personal favourite of mine is "Where do we go from here", at first I found the intro to the song rather annoying and never actually got to listen to the song but after I just let it play I was astounded by the lyrics and the display of Alicia's vocal ability which really created the feeling of a person who is distressed by the fact they don't know where their relationship is going.
If you love to hear Alicia's sultry voice then whatever she makes will always be worth buying. In terms of the music I felt her first two albums had more soulful and catch tracks nonetheless this album is still fantastic and worth buying.
Summary: A great album worth buying
