      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Definately worth the money

As you may well know, John Barrowman does it all really - Stage, film, television, singing etc etc. Aspects of Lloyd Webber is one of his many albums which have been released in the last few years. It was released in 2007 and incorporates his musicals experience into the album. I brought this from amazon for about £5 which is great value and it's definately a good purchase!

Sunset Boulevard - Orignally from the musical Sunset Boulevard (surprisingly...!). John Barrowman has also sung this on the show The Sound of the Musicals. When I heard this rendition of it I wasn't too sure about it, because I had heard several versions but this one had a much quicker tempo, but it definately grew on me and I now think this version is so much better than others. During this version you can imagine the scene and this song fits in there perfectly. I love the musical, and this version of Sunset Boulevard doesn't change that. The central character is talking about his selling himself out for the money he makes.

All I Ask Of You - Following the catapulting of the Phantom of the Opera into the spotlight following the release of the film, I don't think many people could not know where this song comes from. He sings with Shona Lindsay. This is the longest song on the album, and although I do like it, I don't think it's the best song on here or the best version of it. However, saying that it is still very good and you can still imagine the scene on stage while it's playing.

Seeing Is Believing - from Aspects of Love. This is sung with Kathryn Evans. Aspects of Love is one of (the very few) musicals I don't know much about, because I haven't actually seen it, although I do know some of the songs well because people in my music classes throughout school and college have performed them. This song was wonderful I thought, it makes me want to see the stage version. There's something about this performance that really captures your attention.

Whistle Down the Wind - from the musical Whistle Down the Wind. This musical is about 3 children who find a criminal on the run hiding in their barn and he tells them he is Jesus Christ and they try and hide him from then on. This song is again, one of the best on the album in my opinion.

Any Dream Will Do - from Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat. Similarly to what I wrote for Phantom of the Opera, this musical is more well known (not that it wasn't well known in the first place, but I'm sure you see what I mean) following the search for a new Joseph which was on TV. I don't think this is the best version of the song, and it didn't really conjure up scenes from the show, although it was a very good performance.

High Flying Adored - From Evita. It is based on a real life story of the wife of the president of Argentina, and shows how she leaves behind poverty to become one of the most famous women. I absolutely love this song, it is clear from the lyrics of this song what the film is about and it is a fantastic performance. One of my favourite songs on this album.

Think of me - Phantom of the Opera. This is sung with Claire Moore. This is one of (I think) the slightly less well known songs from Phantom, for example, when you compare it to All I ask of you. This song is the one when they realise what a fantastic singer Christine is after being taught by the Phantom. I like this version, although I think Emmy rossums performance in the film is slightly better and captivating than Claire Moores, however it's still a wonderful perfomance.

Too Much in Love to care - from Sunset boulevard. I haven't seen many performances of this song, but I definately like this one! It's romatic, dramatic, and lots more. It sung with with Catherine Porter.

Love Changes Everything - from Aspects of Love. This is the most well known song from Aspects of love, there are endless performances of it. It was originally sung in the performance by Michael Ball, and I love that version. Although I love the song, and I love John Barrowman, I'm not entirely sure this performance lives up to Michael Balls passion that I've seen on stage myself, but it is still an amazing performance.
