Plastic Letters - Blondie

Rating:
theirs around 1978 or so. Debbie Harry was the first pop star I idolised, her posters gracing my walls along with famous gymnasts and Charlie's Angels. I even joined the Blondie Fan Club. I eventually saw Debbie Harry in concert in 1991 and some twenty-three years after first noticing the group's music, I am still a huge fan. This album, Plastic Letters, was early in their career, being released in 1977, but I didn't buy it until a few years ago. You can often find it cheap these days, so shop around if you are interested. The charmingly titled ‘Rip Her To Shreds’ is a slight deviation of the style that Blondie did so well, as it is less slick and more punky. One of Blondie’s best songs was actually never released. ‘One Way Or Another’ is the hummable track that Sophie Ellis-Bextor recorded for the film ‘The Guru’, which you might know for its ‘I’m gonna getcha, getcha, getcha’ chorus. Harry’s puts in a performance full of character, and it’s strange to think why this never ...

It's the follow-up to Disintegration, a very hard act to follow. Wendy Time isn't all that great.
