Advantages: More English language, making of DVD
Disadvantages: none!
Josh Groban has a real talent, that can't be denied.
This is his 3rd studio album, following on from his earlier success with his self titled album and 'Closer'. 'Awake' has a more eclectic feel, with more English language songs than previous albums.
Highlights of the album are the anthem 'You Are Loved' - an upbeat song of hope and confidence in yourself. Another highlight is the self-penned 'February Song', which has a rather dark feel but is an excellent song by Groban, really showing his potential as a composer and lyricist.
Another highlight is 'Weeping' which is a cover of a South African song that Groban performs with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, an incredible all-male vocalist group.
This album is accompanied by a 'Making Of Awake' DVD which is good fun and gives an insider view of the album making process. Also gives a little insight into Josh's personality. In all, I'd say that 'Awake' is Groban's strongest and most eclectic album to date.
Summary: A great intro to Josh if you don't already know his work.
