New Model Army are one of those bands about which a relatively small number of people are very fanatical- I wouldn't say I was "fanatical" about them myself (although perhaps very nearly) but I do love much of their work down the years, and this album, "B-Sides and Abandoned Tracks", which might sound very much like an odds-and-sods compilation brought out as filler during a year when no albums were released by the band, is surprisingly good. If you're wondering, NMA are one of those bands that straddle a number of genres- indie, punk, folk and acoustic rock in this case. B-SIDES & ABANDONED TRACKS is an excellent album. From reading the title, I wondered quite what I was going to get, but I needen't have worried, these tracks are so good that you wonder how they ever got abandoned in the first place! Fortunately the band obviously realised that they were too good to waste and put them all together on this album. New Model Army is a rock band with influences of punk & folk music, it's very hard to give an accurate desciption of what their music is actually like, but on the whole everyone that I know who has listened to it likes it.
