Advantages: Excellent album, great value with 18 tracks

Disadvantages: none

B-SIDES & ABANDONED TRACKS is an excellent album. From reading the title, I wondered quite what I was going to get, but I needen't have worried, these tracks are so good that you wonder how they ever got abandoned in the first place! Fortunately the band obviously realised that they were too good to waste and put them all together on this album.

New Model Army is a rock band with influences of punk & folk music, it's very hard to give an accurate desciption of what their music is actually like, but on the whole everyone that I know who has listened to it likes it. I would recommend everyone to give them a chance. Their songs are great and they tend to have deep and meaningful type lyrics which makes for very interesting listening. They sing about all sorts, the meaning of life, protests and even love songs.

These tracks were written between 1985 and 1993. The play list is as follows:-

1) Heroin 12" mix
2) Adrenaline
3) Nonsense
4) Trust
5) Brave New World 12" (Gregovich Mix)
6) R.I.P.
7) Brave New World 2
8) Ten Commandments
9) Courage
10) Lights Go Out (US remix)
11) Deadeye
12) Prison
13) Curse
14) Ghost Of Your Father
15) Modern Times
16) Drummy B (Billy McCann version)
17) Marry The Sea
18) Sleepwalking

NMA like their one word titles - don't they!

Having 18 tracks makes it good value for money, but you may have to shop around to get this album at a resonable price as I've seen it sold for as little as £8.99 & as much as £16.99.
It's hard to pick a favourite track, but if pushed my two favourites have to be Heroin & Lights Go Out, as they are very up tempo and lively tracks, probably more so than the rest, but the whole album is no dissapointment.

If you like New Model Army, you'll love it. This album is well worth buying - don't be put off by the title!

Thats better! I have now changed the rating to 'very useful' because now it gives me an idea of what type of music it is. If a Cliff Richard fan brought it on your first opinion they would be after you! LOL

Criticism taken - I've updated this opinion!
I wouldn't worry about your age as this band has been going since the 80's, but it's not a very high profile band - which is probably why you haven't heard of it!

This was not quite useful to me because unfortunatley I have not heard of this group neither the group you have listed 'buy this if you like...' Maybe it's my age? Aaaagh!!! A discription of their style of music would have been helpful :-)
