What can I say? Westlife have done it again and produced another fantastic album. I've currently got three of their previous albums, including their very first album, "Westlife" and have to say their new album, "Back Home" is my personal favourite.
+* Background Information on Westlife *+
Westlife originate from Ireland and formed in 1998 after being signed by Simon Cowell. The band follow in the steps of boy band's E-17, Backstreet Boys, Take That and Boyzone, however, their style is slightly different. The famous boy band are managed by Ronan Keating who previously sang in boy band, Boyzone. The members include Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan. Westlife previously had a fifth band member, Brian McFadden, although he left Westlife in March 2004 to focus on his family and solo career. Many thought this would have a devastating impact on Westlife, but thankfully, it didn't and they appear to be stronger than ever.
+* About the Album *+
"Back Home" is Westlife's ninth album and was released on 5th November 2007, just in time for Christmas! As always, Westlife do excellent cover songs, as well as creating their own music. Westlife's latest single which is on this album, "Home", was originally sung by Michael Buble. Both versions are slightly different as they obviously have a different style when singing. I personally prefer Westlife's version to Michael's, but this is down to personal taste. In fact, it was the release of their single "Home" that encouraged me to purchase this album. "Home" made number 3 in the UK's official Single's Chart, being beat by the likes of Leona Lewis with her latest single "Bleeding Love and Take That's single "Rule the World."
+* Home *+
Home is the first song on album, Back Home. As mentioned before, this song was originally sung by Michael Buble. The song was co-wrote by Michael Buble along with two others and has featured in the film, The Wedding Date. However, Westlife have changed their version slightly with the lyrical arrangement. Westlife shot the music video for this song mainly in Los Angeles, America whilst some was filmed in the UK. This song fits perfectly with Westlife's typical style. "Home" is an emotional ballad with a lot of meaning. This is my favourite song in the album.
+* Track Listing *+
I would like to go in to detail on each track, however, I think this review will last forever! The following tracks also appear on the album in this order:
Us Against the World
Something Right
I'm Already There
When I'm With You
Have You Ever
It's You
Catch My Breath
The Easy Way
I Do
Pictures In My Head
You Must Have Had A Broken Heart
+* Album Cover *+
The album cover features the four band members, Nicky, Kian, Shane and Mark walking along a deserted path with the band members looking in to the camera.
+* Price & Availability *+
This album has been extremely popular in the shops. You can purchase the album in shops such as Virgin, HMV, Asda etc or online at Amazon. The price varies depending on where you purchase the album from. My copy cost me £9.95 which I think is exceptional, especially as I have listened to it so much already!
+* My Opinion on this Product *+
I think this has been a great buy. I have had hours of enjoyment already listening to the brilliant tracks by Westlife. My favourite song has to be "Home" however, there isn't one song on the album that I dislike. The boy's all have great voices and sing well. Their unique style and soft ballads are great for cosy nights in with your other half. The price is nice and cheap too... so if it turns out you don't like what you've bought, you shouldn't be disappointed! I think this album will be a huge hit this Christmas and appeals to boys and girl's of all ages.
Thank you for reading my review.
Nichola
