Back Home is an album by Irish boyband Westlife. The album is in fact their eighth studio album. The album was released in 2007 and reached number 5 in the British Albums Charts. The album is currently available for sale from Amazon for a price of £1.83 which I think is fantastic value for money

~ * What Are The Songs Like? * ~

Oooh, I have to say that there are some really good songs on here. In fact I can't say that I dislike any of the songs on here; I really do like them all.

Songs which stand out for me include:

Home - Yes, it's a cover but a good cover too. I wouldn't say it is my favourite cover of this song, as there are a couple of other versions that I like (that's including you Mr Buble!), although this one does sound nice.

Us Against The World - Oh man I love this song! It is one of the best Westlife songs ever. It is so romantic and emotional. I think that it would make a fabulous first dance song at a wedding.

~ * What About The Album As A Whole? * ~

I love this album; I have to say it is one of Westlife's best albums. There is a really mature feel about this album; they've grown up and got rid of their cheesy-ness and gone for something they feel at home with and do their best with.

The album provides some great easy-listening music. There is a really 'chilled out' vibe about this album which makes it perfect for listening to whilst chilling out. It is the kind of music you can have playing in the background.

When I first heard this album; I instantly knew straight away that I was going to love it. With a lot of albums (Rihanna's etc) you have to listen again and again to the songs to work out whther you like them or not, however with this album I could tell straight away. I love the songs on here now just as much as I did when I first heard this CD.

Obviously Westlife are known for their 'boring ballads'. I on the other hand have to disagree; whilst I agree with the fact that they do tend to stick to ballads, I don't find them boring at all. In fact I think that Westlife have some of the best songs ever. Whilst I admit that the album does seem a bit like 'been-there-got-the-tshirt' but its what they do best. They just wouldn't be Westlife without all these beautiful ballads. This album totally has Westlife written all over it.

There are a few covers on here; the song 'Home' included. A lot of people get annoyed at the amount of covers. What I say though is that if its a good song and they do a good version why can't they include it on their album. I actually think it is nice to hear different versions of 'nice' songs.

There are a lot of 'soft ballads' which turn into big powerful ballads (note the famous Westlife key change at the end of the song). I love it though; it just adds to the emotion.

One thing that really annoys me about Westlife is that Nicky and Kian never EVER sing; they always leave it to Shane and Mark. I mean I like Westlife, but I sometimes wonder what is actually the point of Nicky and Kian being in a band if they don't sing, other than to stand there and look pretty. I think that Mark and Shane (even though I think Mark's the best) have amazing voices, I would like if Nicky and Kian did their bit. I mean with all the technology and 'effects' they can add to their voices these days, they are not going to sound that bad are they? or are they?!

I did notice that this album is very lovey dovey - the guys are all married now and so maybe that has something to do with it. I would therefore say if you like a bit of romantic music and you like Westlife, make sure you have a listen to this album.
