Back to Scratch is the latest album from Charlotte Church, and comes under the pop genres, making it her second pop album. Back To Scratch was released in the United Kingdom on October 25th 2010 and so is very recent. You can buy a copy of the CD from Amazon for a price of £6.99 which I think is fantastic value considering that the album has only been out a week or so.

How nice is it to see Charlotte Church back in the charts after a five year break! I really like Charlotte ; I always have! I think she is so down-to-earth and genuine, and is very comical! I loved her show (The Charlotte Church Show and her autobiography "Keep Smiling"), despite these two "endorsements" , one thing I like about Charlotte is the fact that she hasn't been 'sucked into this world of celebrity' and I think that is the reason why she is so 'real'.
I never liked Charlotte's 'opera stuff' ; it is only since her 'pop stuff' that I have taken notice of her musically. I have her album 'Tissues and Issues', and while it is a good album, there were parts of me that thought her voice was 'too strong' for some of the songs. This album, on the other hand is perfect ; it really allows her to show her fantastic vocal range! She sounds so mature as well!
There are some great songs on here ; I love the lead single which is also called 'Back To Scratch' as it is upbeat and has quite a positive feel to it. I also like the latin-sound of Lovedrunk. To be honest there isn't a song on here that I dislike , I like them all, and it's not very often you can say that you like every single song on an album. There is something for all tastes on here, whether you like pop, rock, jazz, folk, latin,ballads.....there's something for everyone. I like the fact that songs are personal to her, for example there is one song which is named after her daughter 'Ruby'.
Being a singer myself, one thing which bothers me about some 'artists' is the fact that the can't sing, but still get to be 'pop stars' (because they've got the look or something or other), because they can put 'special effects' on their voices, to make them sound as though they can sing. One thing, I know is that Charlotte Church is a real singer! She hasn't had to rely on 'studio' effects to make her sound good and in tune ; she really can sing!! To me she is what I call a singer (not the likes of Cheryl Cole!!) and that is why I admire Charlotte so much!!
I would definately recommend this album!!
This is what I call real singing - not Cheryl Cole!!
Thanks for reading!
