Wild One: The Very Best Of Thin Lizzy - Thin Lizzy

Premium Review Superb Introduction (571 words)

I bought this compilation in 1996 upon its original release. I had heard T Thin Lizzy on the radio and on a Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear tape [oh, the shame!] and as a teenager this music resonated with me much more than Brit-Pop trash like Echobelly, Menswear, Sleeper etc [though I was a big Blur fan]. The C.D sounds great, even now after 12 years I can put this on and crank it up and it will bother the neighbours. Thin Lizzy is forever linked with my teen years as I was in a band and we attempted Thin Lizzy s version of Whisky In The Jar . I spent ages learning Eric Bell s guitar solo [which I have now forgotten!] and it was one of our first favourites among the loyal ...

songs. U2 have always been open about the advice and leads they received from the band, advice which helped them to become the biggest Irish band in the wake of T Thin Lizzy and ultimately global superstars. Some would even say that bassist Adam Clayton paid a personal tribute in the form of the Afro that he sported in the early days, but I’m moving away from the point a bit here. But how do you define their style. Phil Lynott himself seems to have taken Hendrix gypsy swagger and rock credentials and mixed it with Van Morrison’s Celtic soul as well as acid rock and folk music. With line up changes the band hit a more mainstream rock sound and the album does mainly reflect ...

Thunder & Lightning - Thin Lizzy

Premium Review Thunder & Lightning (216 words)

This the last studio album to be released by Thin Lizzy. The album was released in 1983 and has a heavier sound than previous T Thin Lizzy albums. This album was the only studio album with John Sykes on lead guitar, having replaced Snowy White. As I said earlier this album has a much heavier feel than their previous albums, this can be heard instantly with the title track. The album only really has one down tempo song, "The Sun Goes Down" which in my opinion is one of the best songs on the album. While I do like this album in a sense, i just find it slightly poor in comparison with other Thin Lizzy albums. Of course, it has its highlights such as "Cold ...
