Of all the so called grunge bands Soundgarden were the only band whose music I felt truly justified the tag, and in Badmotorfinger they truly typified what grunge should sound like. This band was about way more than just the songs, the sound being just as important. The guitars are just plain nasty and sludgelike, the bass just flaps away at the low end, the drums buckle brilliantly under the weight, and then theres Chris Cornells voice. "Jesus Christ Pose" - Totally brilliant, awesome non-cliched tom-tom pattern by Matt Cameron. Superbly executed; nice attention to levels of dynamics during the riff. I've not heard anyone play this on drums with the right vibe; the staggered pull on the high hat accent is so draggy ... Read the complete review
