Advantages: A great eighties collection of one of the biggest girl bands of the time!
Disadvantages: None...the hits just go on and on and on and on...
Genre: Indie Rock & Punk - New Wave & Post-punk? Thats hardly how I would describe Bananarama; a three-piece female group whose hits in the eighties encapsulated the whole Pete Waterman era with their sharp, snappy pop tunes that instantly became classics of their time! Who can forget Robert DeNiro's Waiting or Love In The First Degree? True they may now be regarded more as guilty pleasures that you refuse to admit to liking for the sake of looking cool, but back in the day these were what you REALLY called tunes!
All the biggest hits are here on one album from Cruel Summer through to I Heard A Rumour and I Want You Back! These were the days BEFORE Siobhan Fahey left to form Shakespeare's Sister with only one song here featuring her replacement, Jacqui O'Sullivan who never quite made the grade! Bless her! As an eighties nostalgia album, this is superb and features some of my all-time favourite eighties' tracks and though I don't play it often, when I do it is always a pleasurable experience that puts me in a good mood and has me singing and bopping along in the car!
Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye), Nathan Jones, Love Truth And Honesty......Bananarama just had sooo many hits and it is not till you listen to this again that you remember just how big they were!
Summary: Take a trip back to the eighties!
