This is actually a live album and having seen the band live before myself, I can say that they really entertain the crowd with all manner of solos with different instruments, each musician has plenty of tricks up their sleeve and can pull off some amazing things that scintillate the crowd!

This album "Band of Gypsies" is similarly named to the Hendrix album and it's perhaps quite apt because Nicolae Neacşu is to violin, what Jimi Hendrix is to guitar.. and they are both dead! Taraf de Haidouks is an awesome band, made up of around 15 different gypsy musicians at any one time who were recorded during the 80's but only really became known following the Romanian Revolution in 89. As the band has some pretty old members, 2 have unfortunately died this decade (violinist Neacsu and cimbalom player Dumitru Baicu.
