Too pompous by half. Although a great composer, I honestly do not think Sir ... more ... William Walton was best suited to writing music for movies.
However, the same cannot be said for Ron Goodwin. Here was a film score composer par excellance. He had an uncanny knack of producing memorable tunes that you will remember long after seeing any film his music graces.
And the Battle Of Britain soundtrack is no exception. Although the film is a smashing piece of cinema, I’m quite certain that the musical score went some way to helping make it the blockbuster movie it became. An excellent accompaniment to t...more |

This is a repeat. Sorry for the inconvenience of putting it where it did not belong previously. It's the 'getting old disgracefully' thing kicking in again. Anyway, here is the BofB soundtrack review again. Battle Of Britain Soundtrack Ryko/MGM RCD 10747. Deluxe Edition. Released 1999. Now here’s a rarity. Two soundtracks for the price of one. Not only do we get the Ron Goodwin score that the film “Battle Of Britain” was released with, but it also includes the Sir William Walton score that was not used, except for one piece, “Battle In The Air”. None Great Introduction To 80's Goth, Varied Most people won't risk buying it. Absolutely delightful with plenty of different musical styles to keep things varied "Asuka Strikes!" is really horrendous Lots of lovely versions of some Porter Classics A couple of bad notes, and if you don't like Porter, you won't want this album Atmosphere.... the chance to have Hannibal crooning in your very own home...
