Advantages: Lyrics,guitar,bass
Disadvantages: "New Year's Day"
First of all I would like to point out that I am not one of those people who just keeps saying "the first album was the best".Bearing that in mind I would like to sya "the second album was the worst".Battle of L.A. is areturn to the greatness first plumbed by Rage Against the Machine in their first album. This album has some brilliant tracks-"Guerrila Radio","Mic check","Testify" and "Voice of the Voiceless".Yet again we are treated to Tom Morello's incredible guitar sounds and Timmy C's funky bass.People tend to overlook the simple musicianship of Rage Against the Machine.Zach de La Rocha's lyrics are flawless(almost) again and we are treated to some pretty quick rapping on "Guerilla Radio".However his search for a simple yet appealing slogan has never matched the might of "f**k you,I won't do what ya tell me". Tracks such as "Maria" and "Sleep now in the Fire" are just filler really-they cannot match the highpoints of this album. The album finishes with "New Year's Day" which is actually pretty crap. However it opens with "Testify" which is pretty good so it evens out.The 2nd best album by Rage.Worth buying though.....

- 02/07/01 check out the 1st album-"Rage against the Machine" with the picture of the monk on fire on the front.Steer clear of Evil Empire until you're a complete Rage nut.Get Renegades after you get the first.1st is like 3rd instrumentwise, renegades has polar opposites-lot of rock OR rap,not fusion like usual,2nd has really messed up instruements and should only be listened to ON IT'S OWN |
