**Introduction**
Jordin Sparks released her self titled debut album in 2007 after being crowned the winner of American Idol. During the run up to the release of her second album Battlefield I saw her debut in HMV as part of the sale so I picked it up and bought it along with another CD in the sale. I since reviewed the album and have now decided to review Battlefield after listening to it a few times since the release. Her debut has sold over 1.5m copies worldwide. So will Battefield prove to just as successful or more so?.
**Battlefield**
There's no sign of producers "Stargate" on her second album but that does not mean there's not production from well known producers. Ryan Tedder continues his successful producing alongside his band OneRepublic. Other producers include Cutfather,Benny Blanco, Scott Cutler, Dr. Luke, Toby Gad, Claude Kelly and Harvey Mason, Jr. With lead singe "Battlefield" released the album has already shown good promise.

**My View**
"Walking on the snow" gets things off to a catchy start with this track which continues the sound of her debut, This is a very flowing slice of R&B/Pop which showcases her sweet vocals well. One thing I have noticed is that she has a distinctive voice so that even if you have not heard the song before you still know it's Jordin Sparks. Good start.
"Battlefield" is up next and this is a brilliant track which starts gently with a keyboard intro then the thumping beat comes in, This track is about a relationship that seems like you two are always at war with each other. I am sure many people can relate to this track and that's part of the reason why this track gets through. This is a really great track.
"Don't let it go to your head" follows with another gentle opening which leads into a heavy beat. This is another very flowing track which is about wanting your partner to continue to do the things that got you two together and not to relax and think they can just stay with you. This has a great message and continue on well from the previous track.
"SOS (Let the music play)" is a funky track which changes the mood, this track contains a sample of "Let The Music Play" by Shannon. this is a very catchy electro pop track which shows that Jordin Sparks can do more than just R&B ballads. This is one of the catchiest and most flowing tracks on the album. Great to dance to. It has just been released as the 2nd single.
"It takes more" follows on with the same kind of message as "Don't let it go to your head", On this track she sings about her partner needing to be there for her and not just coming in and out of her life. This is another very good ballad that has a good flow and would be the third single if I was choosing.
"Watch You Go" continues the theme of the album, I like the opening In which you hear her say "I see the break lights, that means he's leaving me again" This track is about when the problems in a relationship aren't getting sorted out properly as the guy is also going off when there's a problem. This is a very good track that continues the strong lyrical content.
"No Parade" is a gentle piano track which really showcases her vocal ability with a laid back vocal to start the song off. The beat the comes in and the song starts to get into full flow, her vocals develop and this is a very good track indeed that shows how she moves through the song brilliantly with each verse.
"Let it Rain" opens with a church like organ part and then her vocals come in, The beat then comes in and this develops into a really impressive track which musically runs from Gospel, R&B to Rock seamlessly and then back again. This is the most different track on the album and a really really great track. You should really listen to this one.
"Emergency (911)" is a catchy slice of up tempo pop about when you really need your partner to be there. This is another very good catchy up tempo track which again shows the variety of her music. This is a very impressive track.
"Was I the only one?" is a really beautiful ballad with Jordin Spark's relaxed vocals developing throughout into a very good vocal indeed. This track is about finding out at the end of a relationship that your partner who you thought was in love with you as much as you were with them did not feel the same. Brilliant track.
"Faith" is another beautiful track, just piano and her tender vocals to start and then a soft drum beat comes in, this is an absolutely brilliant track which shows the progression from her debut album to this one. When the orchestra comes in this track is complete and is another brilliant track, Just awesome.
"The Cure" has some gentle piano to start with backing strings. Sparks' vocal comes in beautifully, this is yet another very very good track indeed. Which further shows the brilliant way she moves through the song. This is one of the best tracks on the album musically. Yet another great track.
For some reason the first two tracks from the debut album are also on this album and they are two great additions.
"Tatoo" It features a catchy drum beat and some gentle keyboard tones with the addition of the strings in the background. This track is summed up by these lyrics "just like a tattoo I'll always have you. You can understand her feelings.
One Step at a Time
This beat sounds a little like Jennifer Hudson's massive hit If this isnt love. I like the way that this track flows as it's rather catchy and has a very natural flow which adds to the overall appeal of this track. This is about taking a relationship as slow as it needs to go so you get things right. Good stuff.
**Overall**
This is the second album from Jordin Sparks and you can really hear the progression from the debut to this. Her debut was a very very good album but the way this album ends is just superb, She's only 19 years old and has many years in the music industry to go. I can see her becoming a huge artist and she is yet further proof that the American Idol winners are just far far superior to the crop of UK's winners.
