The Jimi Hendrix BBC sessions is a release that builds on the work of the much earlier, Radio One, release encompassing more recordings with improved sound quality. It brings together all of the songs that the group recorded for the BBC, as well as a few alternate takes, which were made to provide the content that got around the limitations on the playing of records during broadcasts, which was limited to seven hours split between both Radio 1and 2. At the time, the playing of records on the radio was seen almost as a discouragement for listeners to go out and purchase them for themselves, as if you could hear them on the radio for free, why go out and pay for them. ... Like all rock fans, I was drawn to the Experience by Jimi?s wild guitar playing and Wayne?s World, this double CD boasts some of the Experiences best and most famous tracks, but for me does not do them justice, the interviews thrown in to introduce the tracks completely ruins it for me, as far as I?m concerned all fans would be better off buying The Ultimate Experienced for a true reflection of the Experiences best works. For Hendrix anoracks only. ... Read the complete review

This collection is something of an excuse for the good old Beeb to make money out of this guitar-playing legend's legacy, but die-hard fans will buy it and love it nonetheless. It's amusing to hear Lulu introducing 'Hey Joe' and trying to chat to Jimi about it in a hip and cool fashion. Less worthy of attention is Jimi's attempt to cover that blues classic 'The Hoochie Coochie Man' (sorry mate, however great your psychadelic guitar playing skills were, it just ain't happening) and the Beatles 'HelterSkelter'. All in all, not bad, but if you're looking for a comprehensive collection of Jimi's great classics, ... Read the complete review

Great fans of the Great Jimi Hendrix desire this cd for one reason, It has many songs that you won't hear on the records. On this cd, he does Hoochie Coochie Man, Day Tripper, Sunshine Of Your Love, and many other great songs. There are songs for all kinds of people, there's loud songs, blues, regular listening, and classic Jimi Hendrix. The only bad part is they have some annoying interruptions with other people from the BBC talking. But overall it's a great cd. ... Read the complete review
