The more I listen to "Beautifulgarbage" ( and you sdo have to listen to it repeatedly before getting the best out of it ) the more it's infectious grooves grows on me. Garbage's latest and greatest album definitely has a pop feel, but hardcore fans shouldn't worry. They haven't quite ditched their distinctive alternative-electronica trademark sound just yet. The highlights of the disc are "Til The Day I Die", "Cherry Lips (go baby go)", "Parade", "Breaking Up The Girl" and of course the first single "Androgyny."

The hardest and darkest song by far is the first tune entitled "Shut Your Mouth." To begin with, I was a bit shocked at the fact Shirley used the F word. Comparing it with the other songs on the album, "Shut Your Mouth" doesn't seem to belong on the CD at all. Either that or Garbage shouldn't have kicked it off with this track first.

"Can't Cry These Tears" floats straight out of a 1950's high school prom. I can see all the kids slow dancing along with it now. "Til The Day I Die" absolutely rocks! This is my favorite track on the album by far. It's completely fun and instantly catchy. Nu-Metals bands around the globe, whom secretly plot to dominate the current music genre, only wish they could sound this good.

Another retro-esque tune is "Cherry Lips (go baby go)", I almost couldn't believe that was Shirley Manson singing; she nailed the teenage 80's glam girl voice down pat. "Parade" recalls the feeling of "Special" from Garbage's previous album. I believe this song might be the real sleeper in terms of if it's a complete breakout alternative-electronic classic or an average hit single. ;)

Other songs radiate urban alienation (Untouchable) and coy brooding (Androgyny). But this is also about exploring new sonic possibilities: the camp Can&
#39;t Cry These Tears is simply immaculate Spectoresque pop noir. Sharp, seductive music from a band at their peak.
