This album contains the very track that countless people will know and say "Who was that by?". I said exactly the same thing and made it my duty to find out. Luckily enough, Bentley Rhythm Ace put in an appearance on Later with Jools Holland and played that very track... "Bentley's gonna sort you out!" It is one of those tracks that gets you out of your depressive little hole of gloom and back outside into the brave world of sunshine, fluffy rabbits and candy floss! Once I had finally bought the CD from a local shop, having only heard small clips of other tracks downloaded off the offical website, I was pleasently surprised. This is one of those ... This album plays host to the song Bentley's Gonna Sort You Out, the cheery, bouncy, wobbly tune that nobody can resist. Unfortunately, the rest of the songs on the album aren't as good. Fortunately, they are nonetheless ace. This album, I am assured, is a better purchase than their more recent effort, but having had no experince of the latter, I can only comment on the first. Tracks like Midlander, Why Is A Frog Too...? and Who Put The Bom In The Bom Bom Diddleye Bom (indeed) are highlights, and their titles alone demonstrate the underlying good humour of the Bentley boys. This is great cheer-up music. ... Read the complete review

The debut Bently Rhythm Ace album from the group of the same name is a really good album, and has been extremely underestimated by the public. This is echoed more and more as the music from the album is used in the background of adverts, etc and people have no idea what it is... There is a mix of dance, big beat and a hint of industrialisation thrown in for good measure. The album has some excellent songs including Let There Be Flukes, Bently's Gonna Sort You Out and the fantasticly titled Who Put The Bom in Bom Bom Diddleye Bom!! The album generally is upbeat, and not too hard like Aphex Twins, but retains a fun feel throughout. If you are into ... Read the complete review

I bought this album while heavily into the Chem's Dig Your Own Hole. At the time, it was the Big Beat craze, and the Bentleys are supposed to be great live. Well it's now 3 years on, and it's nice to say this album is still good to put on. The idea that 2 guys get a bunch of 2nd hand records and use their samples to make a record sounds like a bad idea, but they pulled it off. The tracks are slabs of bass, mixed with samples, noises and general chaos, and a large dose of humour. The quite beautiful Why is Frog Too? shows they can be clever AND musical, while Raftopskodacarchase gives an example of their craziness in naming the ... Read the complete review

This is an amazing album, but only if you're in the right mood. I find that if you're depressed, and you listen to the whole album, by the end you will have cheered up a lot. The only bad thing about it is that if you are in a really good mood, it can be annoying. So if I am in a good mood, or after I've listned to BRA, I tend to listen to a chemical brothers album, which is a bit more soothing and bassy. These also have tracks with Beth Orton singing on them, which makes them really sad and relaxing, but not depressing. Anyway, if you male yourself depressed, you can just put Bentley Rythm Ace on again. ... Read the complete review
