Comparisons will always be drawn, if not purely because both groups happened to be male and were making innovative music at the same time. Now that summer is upon us...and on this glorious day I feel justified in listening to and writing a review on the beach boys :). The beach boys certianly do give you that summer feeling and many people enjoy singing along to classics such as fun fun fun or I get around. The beach boys are a great deal more than just a bit of fun however. Brain Wilson is simply a genius, and highly regarded in this manner by many in the music industry including Beatles producer George Martin. This really is a pukka album. Boy did they do it good in those days. This best of is a fantastic collection of terrific tracks written by the masterful Brian Wilson. The vocal arrangement and harmony is outstanding and harks back to that bygone '60s vibe of youth and optimism. Would suggest this as vital muzak for a chipper, brighter summer, or a reminder that sunshine and happy days do exist in the middle of a miserable and cold Winter. Get dancing round your flat, hit the sands, wear a smile and live it up for the Boys of the Beach.
