The sweet 'To Love Somebody' is a song I play when I am feeling sentimental and emotional. Highlights: 'Words' is done in a soft and tender way and better than any cover version that has ever arisen of this song. Barry's vocals are restrained and show great promise. Premium Review The Very Best Of The Bee Gees - Bee Gees: Soul Fever (654 words)

They may not be everyone’s cup of tea in the ever changing world of music, but they’re still indisputably very good singers with many hits under their belts (& squeaky voices!). Over the years (decades more like!) the Gibbs brothers, alias - The Bee Gees have sold well over 100 million copies of their songs (more than ‘Hearsay’ ever will!). What else have they done besides sing with those high-pitched voices? Well they’ve written songs for the likes of Elvis (whatever planet he’s on), Nina Simone & Janis Joplin to name but a few. Another interesting thing that I found out about them is the fact that they turned ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review You should be Dancing! Yeah! (149 words)

Rating:

The Bee Gees are one of the most resilient bands around. They have survived more than 35 years in the business now and have many many hit records. Too many for one CD. This CD does its best to cover the entire coollection of their work. It starts form their early work in the 60's with Massachussets and the Mining Disaster song, through to their most popular and successful period during the late 70's when Disco fever hit the world. You should be dancing, Saturday night fever and Staying alive were all tracks mad famous by John Travolta in the Film Saturday night Fever and the Bee Gees Careers took off. During the 80's they concentrated on writing for ...  Read the complete review

I have always admired the Bee Gees for their determination to succeed in an ever changing music market and their ability to craft original and pleasing records. This is a collection of some of their biggest moments Who are they: The Bees are the brothers Gibb, Barry, Robin and the late Maurice. Barry tends to do the lead vocals On this album: It starts off with the older material and works towards the newer stuff. 'New York Mining Disaster' finds the lads with a touch of rawness, this is before they realy honed their sound, but again their voices are on form. I was in my local tesco's doing my weekly shopping when I decided to look at the CD's. I have quite a collection consisting of different kinds of music. I happened to see one it was the very best of the beegees. I immediate bought it, as I have liked them since I was 15. On it are all the best records they have ever made. The ones I like the best are Massachusetts, night fever and New York mining disaster 1941. There version of tragedy is superb compared to the new version, which steps recorded. I'd urge anybody who likes them to buy this. ...  Read the complete review

The Very Best Of The Bee Gees - Bee Gees: Genre changing high notes (103 words)
by - written on 26/10/00

People used to laugh at the Bee Gees during the anti disco backlash, now they honour them. Aside from Lennon and McCartney, Barry Gibb has written more number one American singles than any other person! With such classic sixties Britpop tracks such as Massachusetts and To Love Somebody, coupled with all the great songs from Saturday Night Fever and featuring great singles such as You Win Again and Tragedy, The Best Of The Bee Gees is one of the top ten must own compilation CDs, and go and buy it now, because there is so much variation you will find something you enjoy. ...  Read the complete review
