he best of Blondie is the best-of album from the popular 1970s pop/rock band, fronted by Deborah Harry. Still quite popular today (unlike some 1970s groups), you can usually find a track of theirs on most air-guitar compliation. Blondie have a very likeable sound, and due to its age, you've probably heard most of their songs before, on advertisements and on the radio. A lot of their songs have been covered by other bands, such as "The Tide Is High" by Atomic Kitten, and "Call Me" by Garbage & The Distillers. The album has 12 tracks, the first being, in my opinion, their best song "Heart of Glass". This is ... Read the complete review

Often cited as one of the sexiest women in music, Debbie Harry has helped sell Blondie worldwide, thanks to her raunchy image and startling grasp of femininity. There are a few best of Blondies doing the rounds, this one has fourteen tracks on it. It blasts off with the epic 'Heart Of Glass' which is a perfect disco antidote to the overt popness of Pointer Sisters and Sister Sledge. Harry cavorts over the lyrics like some leopard gently pawing its kill. The beat is disco fuelled, the rhythm sensual and the song is timeless. 'Denis' finds her getting a little blustery with her voice. I am not quite sure what it all means, but the French parts are ... Read the complete review

In the 70s Debbie Harry's look was male object of desire, pouting blow up doll - but she was definitely a knowing sneer underneath the perfect facade. Maybe not quite punk, but there was definitely attitude. Their first album (represented here by only 2 tracks) had plenty of that, but the truth is, Blondie were old enough to know better than go crazy with the sex, drugs and punk thing (as Harry sings in "Dreaming": "You could tell I was no debutante"), and they soon changed into a real commercial proposition, with albums produced by Mike Chapman (of glitter-era Chapman/Chinn fame), and toying with disco ("Heart of glass"), ... The problem with a 'Best Of' compilation is that, of course, it is not going to be everyone's choice. In any greatest hits kind of album, you will get someone criticising it, saying it would have been better if that track had been on and this track hadn't. The Best Of Blondie has exactly that problem. In my opinion, I would have preferred In The Flesh to be omitted, with maybe One Way Or Another replacing it - but we all have our own likes and dislikes and 'you can't please all of the people all of the time'. For the casual fan of the group, this album would be the one I'd recommend, but for a serious fan, it is only a ... Read the complete review

In my old all boys' school in the late seventies and early eighties, Deborah Harry was the ultimate iconic pin up! She's been one of my favourite performers since, along with the rest of band that make up Blondie! In this album it does exactly what it says on the tin! Gives us the Best of Blondie! What I like is the eclectic range of music. In subtle and blatant ranges, there is New Wave, punk, disco, reggae and rap. The combination of different melodies from especially the drummer and guitarist Chris Stein combined with the fantastically wide ranging voice of Debbie harry make the album very special and magical. The songs in order are 1 ... Read the complete review
