How many CD's which are nearly 10 years old do you listen to on a regular basis? Not many I bet, but I can honestly say that I listen to this album at least once a week as I have it in my car, and I just never tire of listening to it. I was too young to appreciate The Police properly, but it is the kind of music that my parents used to listen to, and I think I have grown to appreciate the talents of my eccentric fellow Geordie Gordon Sumner, better known as singer songwriter Sting. I don't think that Sting's music is for everyone, as many people find him too melancholy, but this collection of hits should put paid to those criticisms as there are some more ... Is it possible that the alleged sexiest man in music can also be one of the most boring. I am of course talking about Sting, or Gordon Sumner as he is known to his friends and family. Let's face it though, no man called Gordon was ever going to have a blossoming music career. Sting has a brand new album out this week and looks set to score another top forty hit with it, but if we go back a a few years we can explore his best of. 'When We Dance' opens the album and is a fine start, in which Sting delivers a satisfying and persuasive vocal. He never quite peaks, but the song is gentle and soothing and perfect music to seduce a lady to by an open log ... Read the complete review

If you have just purchased Brand New Day and you want to get into Sting's earlier stuff then this is a good place to start. With the well-sold singles in 10 years of Sting's life (probably the most dramatic ten years too) this album shows exactly what talent this man is capable of. Most of the songs are slow-tempo and pop-rock ballads. Very relaxing album and great music. Of all the people I have spoken to, what they have heard of the songs on this album they have loved. Features When We Dance which is an amazing and beautiful song without an album to be carried on. And also many Soundtracks Sting has done and other songs which haven't ... Read the complete review

With 17 tracks from the albums covering 1984-1994, this album from former Police-man Sting is a classic. You won't hear the likes of 'Roxanne' or 'Every Breath You Take' - these can be found on the album The Very Best of Sting and The Police - but you will find classics such as the fabulous 'Englishman in New York' from the album . . .Nothing Like the Sun (based on the now sadly-departed Quentin Crisp), 'If I ever lose my Faith in You' and of course 'Fields of Gold' from Ten Summoner's Tales, and 'Mad about You' from The Soul Cages. Taken as a sampler of the music of Sting, this contains examples of his ... Read the complete review

With life so hectic, you need a few albums to relax with, have a cup of tea, mellow out. This is one of them. Sting's voice is so original, so mellow calm, as he twangs his guitar. I could go into the albums songs, but I prefer to tell you about the mood. This album is his best hits, and yes I would agree about that. Sting has a way to relax you, a feeling a bit like sunbathing. So if your not into classic baroque music but wanting something more poppy to calm you down, buy this. The songs merge into each other blend stur feelings, one minute I'm EnglishMan n New York, the next you are in Fields of Gold. They feel so natural a ... Read the complete review
