There's nothing wrong with a bit of decent throwback heavy metal, but Ancara's tendencies towards the more bland and commercial side of eighties "hair" rock make this latest album less welcome than something possessing a harder edge. Things start off well enough with chugging opener 'Circles,' but the sound soon descends into mostly slow melodic metal "with feeling," the feeling unfortunately being expressed in tender love songs like 'Snowflower' rather than the full throttle Judas Priest style. Experimental and atmospheric, but retains a pop sensibility. 
The softer songs sound rather similar. Retro ambience for Tangerine Dream fans. Not up to the standards of its competitors, a disappointing change of direction. Enjoyable old-school black metal, with great vocals and some cool guitars. Mostly uninspired, with lousy production.
