Don't be confused by the title. It is not a book. It is an album. Lisa obviously wanted to mislead people, the minx! She has one of the richest most soulful voices in music, her career marred only by a lack of new releases and a poor haircut. Who is she: Rochdale lass Lisa found fame with dance act Coldcut before launching a successful solo career. Best known for 'Around The World.' Highlights: 'People Hold On' takes you back to her early sound with Coldcut. A dancey sounding song with acid house leanings. Her vocals are commanding and reminiscent of Yazz. There was always something strangely engaging about Lisa Stansfield, the Rochdale born singer who became one of the few truly global British female singers in the past 20 years. After a stint on TV as a presenter on ‘Razzmatazz’ and a failed bluesy-pop act, she made a breakthrough with her 1988 club hit ‘People Hold On’ with scene pioneers Coldcut, featured here.
