[Apologies for the sheer awfulness of this review's title.] Possibly the most misunderstood musical combo of the last few decades, Black Lace’s genius – never more evident than on their seminal ‘Going To A Party’ album – has been shamefully overlooked on the basis that they sing merely ‘novelty’ records. As a brief glance at the tracklist to the aforementioned album proves, this is obviously not the case. Black Lace "Court is in session. All rise." "M'Lud, I would like to bring before this court the case of 'Musical Taste vs. Black Lace'. This case has been pending for some time now, and we are in need of a frank and detailed discussion of the alleged offences. Case for the Prosecution: ------------------------- This group has much to answer for. In their time, from the late 1970s right through to the present day, they have been responsible for a string of record releases that can only be described as embarrassing. Love them or loathe them, you can't help but admire these guys. They entertained us in the eighties with hits such as 'Agadoo'and 'Superman. I bet you can remember standing doing the actions at the disco or in front of your own television. Do you remember the film 'Rita, Sue and Bob too? that is where I fist heard them singing 'We are having a gang bang', what other bands would get away with that one? When the next wedding comes along there you will be (having had a few drinks) on the dance floor doing what you vowed never to do again. You have to give them credit, even they didn't expect to make it where they ... Read the complete review

We went to Tenerife when my son was just 4. In the evening they had a slot for the youngsters..every night it was exactly the same routine...up on stage with the 'hosts'..(young lads...I dont know where they got their energy from...possibly the strip????)...anyway, Music Man, Superman, WMCY, In the Navy...all kids adored it!. Personally, I didnt even know who sang Music Man and agreed to swap my NEW Chelsea shirt for a copy of the tape...I never got the tape...! Back home, I tried to find a copy of Music Man. I traipsed every where!. Then I heard my brother-in-law singing it!! I asked him, somewhat aghast, 'who sings that'...he laughed ... Read the complete review
