Advantages: Beautiful, mesmerizing songs that make you feel elated
Disadvantages: Having the immortal blood of an MCR fan running through my veins, i find no flaws with this album...
In 2006, My Chemical Romance released another astounding album which amazed the world. In fact, so many people loved it that 240 000 copies were sold in the first week of its release. This was their first album, through Reprise Records, produced by Rob Cavallo. This is in fact the first album in which Bob Bryar plays the drums as Matt Pelissier was the former drummer in the band.

The Black Parade is a concept album centred around the main character, known as "The Patient". For him, death comes as a parade and therefore, this replicates Gerard Way's belief that death comes for a person in the form of their fondest memory.
Throughout most of the album, the songs are more spacey than that of their first two albums, I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love and Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. They are also in fact, quite sorrowful but also very deep and it makes the listener think a lot about the lyrics and about the messages and emotions conveyed. In comparison to their previous two albums, Parade is much softer. However that does not mean that they have less of an impact. For example, "Famous Last Words" is one of the faster songs on the record which I can honestly say is the most uplifting My Chemical Romance song you will ever hear. Words can't describe how amazing this song is. The message of this song is not to be afraid of anything, to have faith in yourself and to keep on going, no matter what life throws at you.
It is said that the aim of music is the awakening of emotion. The song "Welcome to the Black Parade" does just that; it opens a floodgate of emotions with its powerful lyrics. The mood and the feeling of this song scream the need for freedom. Freedom is the theme that this song revolves around. Freedom not only from the tyrannical ways of this world, but freedom from the strong influences that stop us from finding our true selves. I am actually very attached to this song and i think of it as a very close friend because it has always makes me feel better when I'm feeling down and I can very much relate to this song.
If you have found that the other two My Chemical Romance albums have been too loud or punk for you, I suggest you listen to this album because as I said before, the songs are more spacey and there are also softer songs such as "Disenchanted" which starts with a hauntingly beautiful melody, played on an acoustic guitar and "Cancer", played on the piano. This is a very touchy song that can leave you in tears.
I recommend this album to everyone, because as I said for my previous review about My Chemical Romance's first album, their songs are very varied and their style constantly changes so none of their songs are the same. I suggest that you buy this album as soon as you can if you are on the hunt for true happiness.
Summary: go and buy this, it's amazing
