Rating:
Florida's Alter Bridge display surprising mastery of the stadium rock style on their second album, which becomes understandable once you notice that the outfit consists of three-quarters of multiplatinum faith rockers Creed, replacing Scott Stapp with a singer who still sounds like a straightforward imitation of Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. This album seems to have generated a significant buzz on its release in October, even scraping into the UK Top 40 if that means anything to you, and as expected it's a mostly derivative collection of generic, loud modern rock that at least manages to be some place above the competition. The production shows every sign of a ... Read the complete review

Alter Bridge's first album, the phenomenal 'One Day Remains', will go down in history as one of my favourite debut albums. The extremely bold mix of beautiful, heart felt lyrics and fabulous, hard hitting drum beats with screeching guitar riffs really struck a chord with me (ha ha, pun intended!) and it seems that I will never tire of the four pieces fantastic first album as a group. In case you didn't know, Alter Bridge are a concoction of three members from American rock band Creed, including the fantastic guitarist Mark Tremonti, banging bassist Brian Marshall and the hardcore Scott Phillips, a guy who drums a whole new heart beat into each and every song. ... Released in 2007, this is the second album from the band Alterbridge, who are basically the band Creed with a new singer, Myles Kennedy, and he really is an amazing choice: Myles Kennedy - Lead vocals and guitar Mark Tremonti - Guitar and backing vocals Brian Marshall - Bass Scott Phillips - Drums Their first album, 'One Day Remains', was pretty sensational, with amazing songs sung and performed by great musicians, and this second album has lost nothing of that. It seems a natural progression form their debut, which was very feisty and out to prove something it seemed, and so this album seems much more reflective and emotional, but ... Background: First and foremost, Blackbird is a brilliant follow up album to a phenomenal debut album by Alter Bridge, One Day Remains. The quartet originate from Orlando, Florida and Alter Bridge first came to be in 2004, when three ex-Creed members; Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall came together with Myles Kennedy (Formerly of the Mayfield Four). The four members have very good chemistry, and produce a unique rock sound with touching lyrics, hard bass lines and memorable guitar riffs. Their first album, One Day Remains was released on August 10th 2004 by Wind up Records. The album was a huge hit in the US, getting 5th position in the US ... Read the complete review

Let me come right out and say this before I begin, Alter Bridge is one of two favourite bands and the same with this album. So if you are expecting me to dislike this album, you'll be disappointed. Alter Bridge share most similarities with the genre of Hard Rock and any fans of this genre should not miss out on this album. Blackbird is a follow up to their debut album One Day Remains, and surpasses it completley. We are given an array of tracks ranging from the fast, heart thumping songs such as Come To Life and White Knuckles to the more slow, powerful songs like Blackbird and Watch Over You. It is in these slower songs that you really hear and understand how ... Read the complete review
