New Values - Iggy Pop

Premium Review Iggy at Arista Records Part 1.... (699 words)
by tomflint - written on 10/02/09 (Very useful, 92 readings)
Rating:

amusing take on Iggy s short height. The album is full of great songs, although there is that thrown together feel that you get with all Iggy Pop albums. There is definitely some disposable stuff here, like Girls : I love girls, they re all over this world! . The band he has with him, which includes Klaus Kruger on drums and Jackie Clark on bass, alongside Williamson and Thurston, is never less than tight and totally focused. Which means that although the songs occasionally falter lyrically, they are always musically assured. My favourites on the album include; Tell Me A Story [the great snarling opening track] I m Bored [total classic], The Endless Sea [a ...

of the best Iggy Pop albums in my opinion. It s amazing to think how old he was, when this album was made and to put so much energy and power into it is simply phenomenal. Every song on the album just bombs along with raw power! Superbabe (of which the chorus which changes each time is incredibly catchy), Motor Inn, Little ...

2nd greatest record label ever, Sheer variety of music later stuff sometimes doesn't really cut it

It's difficult to, imagine Christmas without, Band Aid and Wizzard Some classics aren't thereand Cliff Richard is on itfar too bloody much

Contains many popular Cure hits, some new stuff, and a limited edition acoustic versions CD with some recordings that supercede the original studio versions, in my opinion Commercially biased, nary a look in to the darker side of The Cure, there's a few dud songs in there, and the inlay booklet's a bit sparse

Great Punk Rock album Some bizarre and occasionally weak lyrics.

Classic Punk - 1990

Revival of the class sound, unhindered by the curse of the nineties. Stuck in a time warp, and not the best example of the genre.

A fantastic Second album, Empire and Shoot The Runner Stuntman doesn't exactly fit perfectly but its not a major flaw

Discovery - Daft Punk
Great for many occasions, One of the best dance tracks so far this year, Quite inspirational in a way If you don't like electronic dance styles you will hate thisDn't buy on the basis of One more time alone

Complex, intellectual and a great horror score But, as horror scores go, suffers from same problems of not being a very "nice" listen
