      Garbage, But Not Garbage

After splitting fan's taste apart from drifting away from their routes in their third studio album, Beautiful Garbage. Scottish/American rockers, Garbage broke up temporarily and came back in 2005 with their fourth studio album, Bleed Like Me. Whilst this album is not as iconic as their first two albums, it is still an album worthy of giving a spin. Garbage returned to their grungey routes in this album in my opinion.

When I first listened to the album, I didn't really have much thought or opinion on it other than the title track is nice.I must say that this album has actually grown on me. I found Shirley Mason's vocals irresistable and sultry which gives the grungey sounds a real touch of class. One of my favourite tracks of the album is the title track. I like the melohonic vocals and depressing tones because it sounds realistic and human like. Most, if not all of the tracks have a punch to them. Some do lack that punch because they're sort of filler material.

Bad Boyfriend is a strong opener with the album with some powerful riffs and stand out vocals. It's a really heavy song, but it still manages to create a great build up. The sound might remind of the likes of Nirvana because Butch Vig produced one of the best known rock albums of the 90's called Nevermind.

Run Baby Run feels desolate and summery. The introduction reminds me of something from a wild west movie fight. The lyrics are really good on this song because of it's cynical tone. Right Bewteen The Eyes also has simular sort of lyrics and I like the desolote tone coming from the riffs and drums.

Why Do You Love Me is a classic song. I think my opinion of this song waas influenced by the stylish music video for it as well as a cool live performance I saw on Youtube. It's feisty and really reflects Garbage in a good light as it has their punches in the vocals and the riffs.

Bleed Like Me has some striking lyrics that highlights self harm and self destructive behavoir. This song is relitavley a lot slower, but still manages to show the energy and raise good points. I love the synthesiers on this track because I think it makes the song sound really great.

Next up is Metal Heart which uses a lot more electronic instruments. The song uses a lot of samples like this, but I like the use of the strings the most. Love the build up to the electronic stuff to the proper guitars. It's a busy track that is quite easy to get lost in, but I don't think Garbage are out of their depth here. I think Metal Heart mixes the styles from their previous albums and in this one really well.

Sex Is Not The Enemy feels filler like, but I love it's grungey style whilst It's All Over But The Crying is slow song with trances of sadness as the title would suggest. They're pretty tracks, but I do think they drag on a little bit. Boys Wanna Fight is another feisty track that reminds me of U2's Vertigo.

Why Don't You Come Over has this mild latin tone in the beginning I think, but as the song is so heavy, I'm not quite sure latin is even the right word. The riffs are really cool on this song though. The album ends with Happy Home. It does remind me of some other acoustic rock songs I've heard on the radio because of how the music and instruments build up with each other. It feels like a really happy song after a bitter incident. I think it's a nice way to end the album.

I'm quite a fan of this album and I love Garbage and because of that, I would reccomend it.
