Advantages: Great cd, so different from their old stuff.
Disadvantages: None!
This was blink 182's last album they released before they split up, it is one of their best albums and has a more 'serious' approach to it with a much darker sound compared to their previous material.
The opening track, feeling this, is such a feel-good song to start the album with. Travis's upbeat drumming and the call and response vocals really give this track the extra energy. This was the first single they released off the album, and it is one of the most popular songs off the album among blink fans.
The second track, obvious, is one of the darker sounding songs on the cd. It's a bit slow going at first but becomes really lively to the end. Tom's vocals dominate the track with some catchy drums and effects that make the song sound different.
The third song on the album is 'I miss you'. This is an extremely good song, it's one of the slower ones on the cd but its a really catchy song that when released was shown to be really popular. This song really shows you how different blinks style has become sincebtheir earlier music.
The fourth track on the cd is called 'Violence'. After the long intro and come to the verse the song becomes very quite and dark - with toms vocals over the top of a snare and some clicking noises, then there is a suddon outbusrt of energy when the song comes to the chorus. The bridge on this song is excellent, it has a really 'emotional' sound, and i really like the way you can faintly hear mark whispering something throughout the bridge.
The ending of violence is a women reading a letter that marks grandmother recieved from her husband during the war, eventually this builds up to the next song, stockholme syndrome. This song is one of my favourites, as it starts with a heavier sound and this sound continues throughout the track.
After this we have 'down', another song blink released off of this album. A repetive yet catchy drum beat is played throughout the song, playyed behind a simple yet extremely effective chorus sung by mark - this song is really well done and is another one of my favourites.
Next is a short track called the fallen interlude. Mainly electronic insturments are used in this track, and there are only a few vocals parts, im not sure who its sung by but its not by tom or mark.
The next song is called 'go', this si one of my least favourite songs on the album. I just feel it lacks the energy that the other songs have, not saying its rubbish, i jsut dont like it as much!
The enxt song is about a man who's in space, and wants to go back to see his family - its called asthenia. Starting with a long intro which uses an actualy recording of a space transmission from NASA the song then continues to the next part. With short snappy verses and lively chorus this song is my favourite on the album.
Blink also releaed the next song, always. This song has a slightly classic sound to it, as well as this there are 4 different basses being used in the outro. Its a simple song about a relationship but it is an extremyl catchy song!
The next two tracks easy target and all of this both use the same guitar part - and this has been done so effectively. Robert smith from the cure sings on 'all of this'. Both these songs are very good, and have been very cleverly.
Here's your letter is the next song, i love this song, its not the best but it is extremely good. Such a lively intro and then the brdige jsut makes the song even better!
The last track, im lost without you, is a slow song. Its long, and sad, but it is amazing. Over 124 different tracks were used to record this song - and to really hear all the different things going on you need to listen to it with a decent pair of headphones, its amazing.
One of the bonus tracks was called 'not now', this song was written about someone whos slowly fading away and wants to tell someone how much they loove them and how they'll always be there for them , but they cant.
This is another great track on the cd which is worth a good listne to.
Overall thhis is album has given a really good impression, it is worth a lsitn to and is very different from blinks earlier stuff.
Summary: Excellent album
