... The only thing that this album really has in common with his earlier work of Black Sabbath is Ozzy's voice, although it does tend to stay in the top rangeof his voice for much of it. The themes are quite different with a lot less of a satanic outlook and a more moody sound, the music is gentle and melodic interspersed with amazing guitar solos. The album has over the years caused quite a bit of controversy with several people killing themselves to the song Suicide Solution , in the US of course... ! Despite the ...more

Premium Review Blizzard Of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne: A strong blizzard! (319 words)
by - written on 18/11/08 (Very useful, 45 readings)
Rating:

Blizzard of Ozz was Ozzy Osbourne's first album following his split from Black Sabbath. Following being sacked from Black Sabbath, Ozzy was in a mess, living in a hotel and trying to drink and snort himself in to oblivion - Sharon Osbourne who would eventually become his wife, decided to get him back on track and from the brink of destruction, the depressive Ozzy got his stuff together and recorded this rather enjoyable album. A great helping hand came from Randy Rhoads who added an awesome speed to the guitar playing of the band. The only thing that this album really has in common with his earlier work of Black Sabbath is Ozzy's voice, although it does tend ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Mental Wounds Still Screaming (1480 words)
by - written on 17/09/04 (Very useful, 183 readings)
Rating:

The odd, rock ‘n’ roll-scarred madman that is Ozzy Osbourne is sadly more well-known in the present climate for his starring role in the ‘hilarious’ reality show The Osbournes, but there was a time when his personal life and health, both mental and physical, made Ozzy one of the most fascinating and enjoyable performers in the heavy metal scene. Finding fame as the curious vocalist in the revolutionary Birmingham rock band Black Sabbath, commonly revered as the founders of heavy metal, Ozzy fell into a state of drug-enhanced depression after he was famously kicked out of the band in 1979. His future wife Sharon Arden eventually persuaded him to give music ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Blizzard Of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne: Brilliant First Solo Album (178 words)
by - written on 08/06/01 (Useful, 78 readings)
Rating:

This is Ozzy Osbournes first solo album and it showed that there was life after Sabbath. Ozzy in no way tries to emulate the Sabbath sound and I think this works in his favour giving the album a fresh crisp sound. I Don't Know is rock standard of a song. Crazy train is a speed metal classic and the beat sounds like a train moving along a track. Goodbye To Romance is a song Ozzy wrote about leaving Black Sabbtah behind a beautiful ballad, this and Crazy Train remain two of Ozzies all time classics. Dee is a beautiful instumental piece. Suicide Solution is one of Ozzies most famous songs after a teenager took his life in America and Ozzy was cited by the ...  Read the complete review

The final performances of Randy Rhoads. Inferior and not-very-long-awaited follow-up to 'Blizzard of Ozz.'

Return to form. Little stands out.

Tims House - Kate Walsh
Calming, beautiful voice. Maybe a little boring for some.

Stockholm Knockout Live - Children of Bodom
Roughly even coverage of studio material. Lacklustre performance, and past the band's prime.

Skeletons - Wednesday 13
An excellent album full of high quality horror punk tracks. I do believe this album is truly flawless

Searching For The Hows And Whys - Get Cape Wear Cape Fly
sounds the same as last album but with a more upbeat tracks may not be to every ones taste tacks renmed off of b-sides

Into The Pandemonium - Celtic Frost
Some successful experiments. Some really bad experiments.

Hate Crew Deathroll - Children Of Bodom
Clings on to the old Bodom magic. Disappointing departure from the classic sound.

Fears In The Water - The Vincent Black Shadow
The vocals are excellent, the guitars possess great power. Too many of the tracks here are incredibly instrumentally repetitive.

Cold Lake - Celtic Frost
Not quite as bad as I expected. Weak, repetitive and pointless.
