In the past I was a very big fan of Children Of Bodom, but since that days I saw that COB is a band for Metal beginners. I like the band indeed, but I don't really listen to them anymore. Some of their stuff still makes fun when I listen to it from time to time. Anyway I bought their new Album Blooddrunk, just because I wanted to see if they have improved or maybe went back to their roots a little bit, because the previous album was not very good.

To answer these questions right here at the beginning: no, they didn't improve their music and they also don't sound like in old days.
The whole album doesn't hold something new, it rather just sounds like they are just copying themself, which is partly definately the case.
The first song 'Hellhounds On My Tail' indeed kicks ass and makes reasonably fun too, but it sounds much like 'Hate Me!' or songs like that. Sadly this nearly the best (or one of the best) songs on Blooddrunk.
The title track 'Blooddrunk' is very okay too. It's probably the catchiest song on the album. Especially the "Blooddrunk!"-shouts remind me strongly of Are You Dead Yet? wherer there were such chunting in nearly every song. There is also a music video for this song, which is pretty cool, but not really special.
'Banned From Heaven' reminds me of mid-tempo-powe-songs like 'Angel's Don't Kill' or 'Everytime I Die', but also the song 'One Day You Will Cry' sounds in some parts very much like 'Everytime I Die'
The rest of the album is not very worth mentioning, it sounds - as I said before - all very similar.

The cover looks also very crappy. It would have been better if they had made it in one colour like on the albums before.

So, the review might sound hard, but it's the truth. I will like the band anyway, but this album made my opinion about them worse.
Those who liked Are You Dead Yet? and their newer sound will also have their fun with Blooddrunk. Those who would have liked to hear a return to the roots are out of place here.
I think it's really sad.

I am not a huge fan of this type of music but good review!

I never understood the popularity of bands like CoB, Kalmah and Norther. Rasped vocals just don't sit well with the speed metal they play.
