All The Road Running - Mark Knopfler

Premium Review Well Worth all that Roadrunning! (787 words)

Rating:

Straits and Knopflers solo work, I was filled with anxiety when I discovered that he had decided to enter the dreaded duet territory, albeit with an artist so gifted as Emmylou Harris . Although this might immediately sound the off-shoot of an inspired studio session it had actually been in the pipeline for 7 years or so. I needn’t have worried though, since the result is a fine piece of a Americana music. Premium Review Red dirt - a great album from Emmylou (514 words)
by cswann - written on 15/10/01 (Very useful, 59 readings)
Rating:

that you can continue releasing good albums, and progress musically. Hell, even country artists, not normally known for being adventurous, can do it. In the 60s, Emmylou featured on Gram Parsons' excellent "G.P." and "Grievous angel" albums, and her own albums such as Quarter Moon in a ten cent town" (1978) and "Wrecking Ball" (1995), were landmarks, in their own way, and all are worthy additions to any record collection. When it comes down to it, though, she may not be very well known, with no big hit singles. One of her most famous songs is "Boulder to Birmingham", but I guess a lot of people won't know it. ...

The Work Which Transforms God - Blut Aus Nord
Hugely atmospheric, well crafted songs, well balanced as an album May be a little too avant-garde for some

Usa - Bloodrock

Stash - Bongzilla
Loyal and slightly varied stoner sludge doom. I don't smoke, so I probably didn't fully appreciate it.

Odinist - Blut Aus Nord
Departure from the tedious electronic direction. Every song sounds the same, and lacks energy.

Mystical Beast Of Rebellion - Blut Aus Nord
Intense black metal performance, for those who enjoy relentlessly samey riffs and drum blasts. Tedious, repetitive and artistically void.

Mort - Blut Aus Nord
Hugely atmospheric, original, well executed Its abstract nature will not be to everyones taste

Gateway - Bongzilla
Great sludge doom. Repetitive towards the end.

Normal - Bumblefoot

Thematic Emanation Of Archetypal Multiplicity - Blut Aus Nord
Varied and atmospheric Industrial parts are a little generic sounding in places.

Come Death - Blood Red Throne
Death metal in the classic style, from some incredible performers. Songs do become a little drawn-out and dull on occasion.
