... following song is another Blues Brothers classic, as I believe it featured in both films. The "Perry Mason Theme" has a down tempo, almost bar room jazz type feel to it, with perhaps a touch of soul mixed in. It's not really a song I'd listen to on its own, but it's one that will always remind me more of the Blues Brothers than it ever will of Perry Mason. Once more, the Blues Brothers get a song, as Elwood sings with Mighty Mac for the first time. "Looking For a Fox" runs to much the same them...more

Rating:

I don't tend to enjoy film soundtrack albums. Generally, this is because the music is secondary to the film in most cases and, as more of a music fan than a film fan, I would prefer more attention to be paid to the music. This means that the only film soundtrack albums in my collection tend to be those where the music is integral to the story, such as "The Commitments" and "Buena Vista Social Club"; both wonderful films with superb soundtracks. A few years ago, however, I happened to come across a film where the music was by far the best thing about it. It wasn't just that the music was so good - although it was - but also that the film ...  Read the complete review

Good orchestra All the songs sound the same!

Creative to the max, very fun and hugely entertaining Maybe a little too cooky for some and, oh that ticking clock...

Great selection of uplifting songs There's only 15 songs!

Loadsa great rockin tunes, not too heavy. 20 tracks in all. coupla bad tracks (or at least not to my taste)

A perfect blend of traditionality with off-beat modernism Fractured presentation with a couple of disruptive source songs

Perfect music to fit the film Very dark and depressing at times

The Best Of The Beat Farmers - Beat Farmers
Some degree of variation, and most songs are perfect examples of the style. Too much focus on the light country style for general consumers.

Out Of The Grave And Into The Dark - Balzac
'Came Out of the Grave' is great, and 'Dark-Ism' is a reasonable follow-up. The second album lacks imagination, and is duller.

Feels Good To Me - Bill Bruford
Pop - 2005

Dear Companion - Meg Baird
Authentic folk performance. Repetitive.

Chthonic Chronicles - Bal Sagoth
The band finally gets it together, and perfects its distinctive sound. Not easily accessible.

Beyond The Darkness - Balzac
The least worst of Balzac thus far, highlighting their various styles. Some material is still weak.

Battle Magic - Bal Sagoth
Continuing to re-define the sound. I'm not so fond of the direction change.

Atlantis Ascendant - Bal Sagoth
More of the same. More of the same.

The Power Cosmic - Bal Sagoth
Interesting, temporary change of direction. Metal instruments now entirely confined to background duty.
