Blues music was always the backbone for Jimi Hendrix, and his more famous works of mainstream pop/rock in the mid to late 1960s were an evolution of this blues background. Whilst tracks like Voodoo Chile (on Electric Ladyland) and Red House (on various albums) might satisfy some craving for Hendrix blues, the only way to gather a true judgement of Hendrix's admiration for, and skill in, blues music is to listen to the Blues album, released in 1994 as an official Hendrix family record.
