Advantages: SONG 2
Disadvantages: SOME FILLER
BLUR is the title of Brit pop, indie rock band Blur's album.
The album contains 14 tracks which I will review.
The opening track BEETLEBUM is quite a depressing, moody song though the lyrics and the uniqueness of lead singer Damon Albarn's vocals mean that it sounds pretty good.
SONG 2 is my favourite track on the album. Possibly there most famous hit this is a short, fast paced burst of energy that comes to life thanks mainly to the guitar work.
COUNTRY SAD BALLAD MAN is a slow ballad that features fantastic lyrics that tell a great story and has real heartfelt meaning.
MOR is a good track sung from the heart that gets better each time you listen to it.
ON YOUR OWN is anotherheartfelt track where the energy comes from the vocals that are aided brilliantly by the instruments.
THEME FROM RETRO is a different kind of track from the band that has a mellow feel to it and is relaxing to listen to.
YOU'RE SO GREAT is a faster paced song that has great lyrics and wonderful vocals.
I wasn't so keen on DEATH OF A PARTY or CHINESE BOMBS as they lacked the energy and passion of the previous songs.
I'M JUST A KILLER FOR YOUR LOVE is about as sentimental as this band goes. Still the music sounds superb and the song tells a good story.
LOOK INSIDE AMERICA appears to feature lyrics about the band's feelings on America so again tells a story with meaning.
STRANGE NEWS FROM ANOTHER STAR and MOVIN' ON are decent tracks though are nothing more than album filler.
The album concludes with ESSEX DOGS that is a funny song with great energy particularly from the guitar.
Overall, this is a solid album from a great British band. Blur are excellent at combining faster and more mellow tracks. Damon Albarn's vocals are so chilled while the instruments provide superb support. There were one or two album fillers on there though they were still decent songs.
Avaliable from AMAZON at £4.98 you can see why Blur were Oasis' biggest rivals.
Summary: BLUR WON'T LEAVE YOU BLURRED
