Blow Up Your Video - AC/DC

Premium Review Blow up your stereo! (176 words)
by gerschwin - written on 22/09/00 (Useful, 112 readings)
Rating:

Your Video finds AC/DC attempting the impossible task of trying to change their sound. The riff that was once the keystone of their songs has been replaced on several numbers by some more thoughtfull guitar playing (although it must be noted that the solos are rooted more in madness than method throughout). It is reassuring to ...

Highway To Hell - AC/DC

Premium Review Highway To Hell...Bon's Last Journey (373 words)
by maiden - written on 17/08/00 (Very useful, 127 readings)
Rating:

With Highway To Hell, AC/DC at last reached a wider audience. With Robert Lange producing, this album featured a much less raw sound than previous offerings. "Touch Too Much" was a modest hit single in the UK and the band completed a worldwide tour by early 1980. Unfortunately, Bon Scott, the charismatic lead vocalist died after an all night drinking session, slumped in the back of a car in February of that year. Highway To Hell was Bon's finest hour. His rapport with the French audience ...

Problem Child, as much hilarious as a message to stray away from the darkside, has some nice lyrics "and my mother hates me". AC/DC throw in some variety with the slower, blusier strain of Overdose before warming back up with Hell Ain t A Bad Place To Be, a pounding, snarling slab of hard rock which allows Scott to lay down his basic "fk you" credo. This man was a real rock star. The band get it up one more time for the finale Whole Lotta Rosie, one of their more well-known tracks, telling the tale of the women who ain t exactly pretty, ain t exactly tall, but when it comes to loving, mmmm she steals the show. Way back in the ...

Stiff Upper Lip is a goos single, some good chunky riffs and back to the original style erm... back to the original style - it depends if you like their original chunky riff's or not

nasty, brutish and short :) some guitar noise on track 3

Good Music None

An excellent rock album, fantastic from start to finish. Some may be put off by the musical change in direction that Avenged Sevenfold took here.
