This is a band who don't take themselves very seriously, as can be seen from the ridiculous lyrics on such tracks as "I hate Led Zeppelin" and "Mad at the paper boy". However, it hints at the direction Screeching Weasel would take on later releases with the classic "Hey Suburbia", arguably one of the band's best songs. Now digitally remastered with new...more

Premium Review Boogadaboogadaboogada! - Screeching Weasel: Not a classic, but a good one (302 words)
by - written on 15/05/09 (Very useful, 12 readings)
Rating:

Screeching Weasel play fast pop-punk heavily influenced by the Ramones. They are known for their insanely catchy songs and 'intelligently' stupid lyrics. However, before their "breakthrough" album, 'My Brain Hurts', they released this 26-track album of furious fast (and stupid) pop punk. Anyone familiar with later efforts by Screeching Weasel (such as the two Fat Wreck releases, "Bark like a dog" and "Television City Dream") will probably think this is a completely different band. They're back!, Great songs Yeah, right, don't think so

40 miserable moments bleak

Great cd, so different from their old stuff. None!

Still better than a lot of other rubbish this year! Too much noise, too slow and basically a Joy Division rip-off

Well penned songs that sound catchy The lad seems to talk about nooky in most songs

Ghost Is Not Real - Husky Rescue
Relaxing. Beautiful sound. Very Creative. You might loose your mind for longer than an hour, you may start hugging trees in front of people!

Brujerizmo - Brujeria
Great fun, well executed with some excellent songs, plenty of character Not very original

Sick - Duff McKagan's Loaded
Old school punk rock with integrity No musical break-throughs, but they aren't everything!

Unbreakable - Fireflight
Great rhythms beat bass and vocals None really, just that the band still arent gettin the credit they need

Carnival Of Rust - Poets of the Fall
Brilliant written lyrics, catchy music, a great rock band basically. Some songs do sound rather similiar to each other.

Triarchy Of The Lost Lovers - Rotting Christ
Great riffs and melodies, memorable songs, has its own unique sound None

Saosin - Saosin
cool vocals, decent sound . . . . . . thats played to over kill, a lack of anything different, too one track minded .

Looking Glass - The Birthday Massacre
Some great numbers and a good introduction to the band. Lead singer Chibi dresses as a schoolgirl! Red Stars is repeated too quickly, CD is too short...nothing new for fans other than a Tiffany cover

From Here We Go Sublime - The Field
Original, unpredictable None

The Songs Of Violetta Parra - Violetta Parra
Great voice, strong lyrics (had to translate most though!) Sounds old and croony - so not everyone's cup of tea
