Advantages: Great singer and some catchy tunes.

Disadvantages: A couple of average tracks

Craig David shot to fame after appearing on that infamous track Rewind by The Artful Dodger. The metioric rise of garage music pulled Craig by the scruff of his neck into the limelight. Craig David grew up in Southampton where his love of music was cultivated through his DJing, MCing and song-writing, and boy does he have talent.

Unlike Hear'Say he was never manufactured, and unlike Mariah Carey, he hasn't got a new multi-million pound contract with one of the biggest record companies in the world. To Craig David it is the music that matters therefore "Born To Do It" should be a classic album, or is it.

The album begins with his first solo track "Fill Me in". This is an upbeat, not quite garage track. Craig delivers some of his trademark fast delivery vocals over a great tune and a catchy hook.

The next track "Can't Be Messing 'Round" is another quite upbeat track with some fast vocals. The chorus however sounds a bit stupid, especially with the violins in the background. He even turns his hands to rapping but doesn't really pull it off. A bit of a dissapointing track.

He then slows it down for "Rendezvous". This is his latest release and one of my favourite songs. Smooth tune and classy lyrics are perfected by some great vocals.

"7 Days" is next. This was his second release and is a very catchy tune. A guitar melody is the background for this track which sticks in your head. Has a quality video spoofing "Groundhog Day" too.

"Follow Me" shows Craig Davids saucy side. He asks the ladies to follow him to his bedroom. Not before marriage surely?! Slow beat and some smooth lyrics make this a hit.

Things speed up again with "Last Night". This is more of a pop track than RnB. Annoying chorus but otherwise a great tune.

Another of Craig's releases is next. "Walking Away" is a slow
track about Craig dumping his troublesome girlfriend. Craig shows his full vocal potential with some smooth singing. Great track.

The album speeds up again with "Time To Party". Definitely a party track with a funky beat and some lyrics to sing along to. Craig suceeds with his rap attempt this time. BO BO BO!

"Booty Man" is one of my favourite tracks on the album. He samples from that well known nursery rhyme "One, Two, Buckle my shoe" but still manages to pull of a great tune. Smooth lyrics, funky tune and a catchy hook.

"Once In A Lifetime" is a boring track to be honest. Slows it down but looses the soul. He maintains his standards as a singer but the track lets him down.

"You Know What" is an average track. Nothing special. Again good lyrics from Craig but again an average track lets him down.

The album definitely ends on a high note. The garage beats of Artful Dodger play the album out to an extended mix of "Rewind". You know the tune. Catchy tune over classic garage beats. "Rewind! When the crowd say BO selecta!"

Overall this is a good solid first album. No track is really bad and there is some great stuff on here. This album is more for the RnB and pop fans amongst us. After seeing him perform on the Brits I know there is more to come from him. Craig David has talent up to the eyeballs and I can't wait for his next album which, with the extra experience, should be a classic.
